The Details of Rolex Submariner 2020
Recently Rolex just unveiled a complete collection of its updated and refreshed Rolex Submariner models. In early April 2020, Rolex announced it would delay its 2020 novelty releases because of the global COVID-19 pandemic. While this announcement sent ripples throughout the watch industry at the time, the brand has finally revealed its new models for the year, and the results are more than worth the wait. The best-selling Submariner line has been dramatically overhauled with new cases, movements, and revised dial designs, creating a new baseline for the world’s most famous dive watch as the industry heads into a new decade. So without further delay, let’s get to the two new Submariner models.
Rolex Submariner Date Ref 126610LN
The 126610LN is a classic steel variation that sees a black dial and matching bezel. It replaces the current ref. 116610LN. The 60-minute Cerachrom bezel comes with a knurled edge for better grip underwater, even with gloves. For the first time, the Oyster case of the new Submariner has been enlarged to 41mm, up from 40mm. Now that may not sound like a big deal to the dilettante, but for those who have lauded the Submariner as one of the most iconic, recognizable and celebrated watches all time, this is a big deal.
While the change in size has been a complete shock to the system, the other big change to the new Submariner Date is the updated movement. For 2020, the Submariner date models receive the caliber 3235. The movements are a bit more accurate and stable than the 3135 movements of the old generation watches. Notably, they offer an additional day of power reserve, bringing up total movement running time to about 70 hours.
Rolex Submariner Date Ref. 126610LV
The new Ref 126610LV is identical to the Ref 126610LN, bar one not so subtle difference. In 2003, the Submariner celebrated 50 years, and Rolex decided to release a 50th Anniversary Edition, reference 16610LV, which quickly acquired the nickname Rolex Kermit, because of its green aluminum bezel and black dial. That green color has become a strong brand identity and a signature color, it is seen as a relevant color for special watches or anniversaries. However, as the previous “Kermit” was equipped with an aluminum bezel and the reference 126610LV is with a ceramic bezel. It has been confirmed that the green on the ceramic is the same color as in the Rolex Submariner Hulk.
As a traditional Submariner watch, this watch also offers water-resistance up to 1,000 feet and is equipped with a scratch–resistant sapphire crystal and a uni-directional bezel mounting. It means you can wear it anywhere you roam without worry.
The 2020 Rolex Submariner just hit the market and is quickly becoming one of the sought-after luxury watches. If you want the most classic, most conservative, most recognizable, and most popular luxury diver’s style watch around, the Rolex 126610 is your very best bet. The Rolex Submariner price is US$14,500 for the ref. 126610LN and US$19,500 for the ref. 126610LV.
